    Use Cookie Cutters for Shapes

Press small cutters into cheese slices or melon to make ghosts and pumpkins. This step takes minutes and adds clear holiday detail.

    Choose Orange and Black Foods

Select cheddar, blackberries, olives, and dried apricots to match the theme. The color match works even on a basic board layout.

    Prep Ingredients the Day Before

Slice meats, cheeses, and vegetables ahead of time and store them in containers. Quick assembly on the day of the event reduces stress.

    Add a Few Themed Candies

Tuck in candy corn or chocolate eyeballs among the savory items. The sweet accents signal Halloween without extra planning.

    Keep One Focal Item

Place a small pumpkin, skull-shaped cheese, or themed dip in the center. Everything else can fan out around it for easy visual balance.

Ghostly White Brie and Cracker Halloween Board

This board uses only pale ingredients to create a simple ghostly look that fits right into a Halloween spread. It works well for small gatherings or as a light starter before a bigger meal. The flavors stay mild and creamy with a mix of soft cheese and crisp crackers.

Ghostly White Brie and Cracker Halloween Board

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
    • 6 ounces white cheddar cheese, sliced
    • 20 plain water crackers
    • 1 cup white seedless grapes
    • 2 white pears, cored and sliced
    • 1/2 cup blanched almonds

    Instructions

    1. Place the wheel of brie in the center of a large board.
    2. Arrange the sliced white cheddar in a half-circle on one side of the brie.
    3. Fan the water crackers in a row along the opposite side of the board.
    4. Fill the remaining spaces with clusters of white grapes and slices of white pear.
    5. Scatter the blanched almonds in small piles around the edges to fill any gaps.

    Extra Tips

Warm the brie for five minutes before guests arrive so it spreads easily onto the crackers. Slice the pears just before serving to keep them from browning. Swap the almonds for macadamia nuts if you want a milder flavor. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Charcuterie board, Cheese knife

Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball and Fall Fruit Platter

This cheese ball turns a simple mix of cheddar and cream cheese into a festive pumpkin shape that stands out on any Halloween board. It pairs well with crisp fall fruits for a balance of creamy and fresh bites. The recipe suits casual parties or family nights when you want something easy yet themed.

The savory cheese gets a warm color from paprika while the fruits bring natural sweetness. It serves as a light starter that feels special without much effort.

Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball and Fall Fruit Platter

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1/2 tsp onion powder
    • 1 pretzel rod
    • 3 apples, cored and sliced
    • 2 pears, cored and sliced
    • 1 cup red grapes

    Instructions

    1. Place the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, paprika, and onion powder in a mixing bowl. Stir until the mixture is evenly combined and forms a smooth ball.
    2. Transfer the cheese mixture to a sheet of plastic wrap. Shape it into a round ball, then use the edge of a spatula to press shallow vertical lines around the sides to mimic pumpkin ridges.
    3. Insert the pretzel rod into the top center of the cheese ball to create a stem. Wrap the ball and chill it for at least 30 minutes so it holds its shape.
    4. Arrange the apple slices, pear slices, and grapes around the cheese ball on a serving platter. Place the cheese ball in the center before guests arrive.

    Extra Tips

Chill the cheese ball longer if your kitchen is warm so the ridges stay defined. Swap one type of fruit for another based on what is ripe, but keep the slices thick enough to hold up to the thick cheese spread. Leftovers store covered in the fridge for two days. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Mixing bowl, Spatula, Plastic wrap

    Monster Eyeball Caprese Skewer Board

This board gives the classic Caprese combination a playful Halloween twist. Small mozzarella balls become eyeballs when topped with olive slices, then threaded onto skewers with cherry tomatoes and basil. It works well for parties or family nights when you want something simple yet themed.

The result is a fresh mix of juicy tomatoes, creamy cheese, and bright herbs with a light balsamic finish. Guests can grab a skewer and enjoy the flavors without any fuss.

Witch’s Broom Pretzel and Salami Board

This board uses everyday items to create witch broom shapes that add a light Halloween touch to any spread. It works well for parties, school events, or casual get-togethers where you want something quick to put together.

The finished board offers a salty, savory bite from the pretzels and salami, balanced by mild cheese and sweet grapes. Crackers and a touch of mustard round it out for easy snacking.

    • 24 thin slices salami
    • 12 fresh chives
    • 8 ounces white cheddar cheese, cubed
    • 1 cup red grapes
    • 20 whole wheat crackers
    • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

    Instructions

    1. Lay out the pretzel rods on a clean surface. Fold two slices of salami around the bottom end of each pretzel rod to form the broom bristles.
    2. Wrap one chive around the folded salami on each pretzel and tie it gently to secure the shape.
    3. Repeat the process until all 12 pretzel rods are assembled into brooms.
    4. Place the finished brooms on a charcuterie board. Add the cubed white cheddar cheese and red grapes around them.
    5. Arrange the whole wheat crackers on the board and spoon the Dijon mustard into a small bowl for dipping.

    Extra Tips

Use fresh chives that still have some flexibility so they tie without breaking. Keep the pretzel rods dry until just before serving to maintain their crunch, and store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to one day. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Charcuterie board, Small bowl

Vampire Blood Orange and Prosciutto Board

    Ingredients

    • 4 blood oranges, sliced into rounds
    • 8 oz prosciutto

    • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
    • 1/4 cup shelled pistachios
    • 20 crackers

    Instructions

    1. Slice the blood oranges into even rounds and set them aside on a plate.
    2. Fold the prosciutto into loose bundles or ribbons for easier grabbing.
    3. Place the brie cheese in the center of a large serving board.
    4. Arrange the blood orange slices and folded prosciutto around the cheese in alternating sections.
    5. Scatter the crackers along the outer edges of the board.
    6. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds and pistachios over the cheese and oranges to finish.

    Extra Tips

Chill the blood oranges ahead of time so they stay juicy and firm on the board. If the brie feels too soft at room temperature, swap in a firmer wedge next time. The pomegranate seeds add little bursts of tartness that echo the oranges without needing extra sauces. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: Italian Equipment: Serving board, Sharp knife

Skeleton Bone Breadsticks and Olive Board

This board adds a light Halloween touch to any gathering without extra fuss. The breadsticks are twisted into simple bone shapes and served alongside a mix of olives on one platter. It suits casual parties or movie nights when you want something savory that still feels themed.

The finished breadsticks bake up golden with a crisp edge and soft center. Olives bring a briny contrast that keeps the board balanced and easy to share.

Skeleton Bone Breadsticks and Olive Board

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • 1 package (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1 cup mixed black and green olives
    • Fresh thyme sprigs

    Instructions

    1. Heat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into 8 strips.
    3. Shape each strip into a bone by rolling the ends into knobs and gently twisting the middle.
    4. Place the shaped dough on the baking sheet. Brush each piece with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with garlic powder and kosher salt.
    5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadsticks turn golden brown.
    6. Transfer the warm breadsticks to a serving board and scatter the mixed olives around them. Tuck in the fresh thyme sprigs for garnish.

    Extra Tips

Shape the dough while it is still cold so the bones hold their form during baking. If you want a stronger garlic note, add an extra pinch of garlic powder right after brushing with oil. Leftovers keep in an airtight container for one day and reheat well in a 300°F oven for five minutes. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Baking sheet, Parchment paper, Rolling pin

Black Cat Olive Tapenade and Cracker Platter

This black cat olive tapenade and cracker platter adds a simple spooky element to a Halloween spread. The tapenade mixes quickly and gets shaped on the board to look like a cat silhouette. It brings a salty, briny taste that balances well with plain crackers.

It works nicely for small gatherings or as one board in a larger setup. The dark color from the olives makes the cat shape stand out with little extra work.

Black Cat Olive Tapenade and Cracker Platter

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups pitted black olives
    • 3 tablespoons capers, drained
    • 2 garlic cloves
    • 1/4 cup olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 24 sturdy crackers
    • 6 extra black olives, sliced

    Instructions

    1. Place the pitted black olives, capers, garlic cloves, olive oil, lemon juice, and dried thyme in a food processor.
    2. Pulse the mixture until it reaches a coarse paste that still has some texture.
    3. Scoop the tapenade onto a serving platter and spread it into a simple cat shape.
    4. Press the sliced black olives into the tapenade to form ears, eyes, and a tail.
    5. Arrange the crackers around the edges of the platter for easy serving.

    Extra Tips

Make the tapenade a day ahead and keep it covered in the fridge so the flavors settle. Use a butter knife to refine the cat outline before adding the olive slices. Choose firm crackers that hold up to the thick spread without bending. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: Mediterranean Equipment: Food Processor, Serving Platter, Knife

Candy Corn Layered Fruit and Cheese Board

This board brings the classic candy corn colors to a simple fruit and cheese spread. It works well for Halloween parties or casual get-togethers when you want something festive without much effort. The mix of sweet fruit and mild cheese gives a fresh, creamy bite that balances the sugary candy corn accents.

Candy Corn Layered Fruit and Cheese Board

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup pineapple chunks
    • 1 cup mandarin orange segments
    • 1 cup white grapes
    • 4 oz orange cheddar cheese, cubed
    • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, cubed
    • 1/2 cup candy corn

    Instructions

    1. Choose a large rectangular or oval board. Start at one end and place the pineapple chunks in a wide stripe to form the yellow base layer.
    2. Next to the pineapple, arrange the mandarin orange segments and orange cheddar cubes together in a second stripe for the orange layer.
    3. Add the white grapes and mozzarella cubes in a final stripe at the opposite end to complete the white layer.
    4. Scatter the candy corn lightly across the top edge of the white layer as a finishing touch.
    5. Set the board out with small forks or toothpicks so guests can serve themselves.

    Extra Tips

Keep the fruit chilled until just before serving to maintain a crisp texture against the cheese. If you need to prep ahead, cube the cheeses and store them separately in airtight containers so they do not absorb moisture from the fruit. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Large serving board, Knife

Haunted Graveyard Brownie and Cookie Board

This sweet board turns fudgy brownies and crisp cookies into a simple graveyard scene. The chocolate base gets topped with crushed cookies for a dirt effect, while whole cookies stand in as tombstones. It suits Halloween parties or casual family nights when you want an easy dessert that still feels themed.

The result gives a balance of dense brownie texture and light cookie crunch, finished with a few candy accents for color and fun.

Haunted Graveyard Brownie and Cookie Board

    Serves 4 people.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup unsalted butter
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
    2. Melt ½ cup butter in a bowl, then stir in 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth. Add cocoa powder, ½ cup flour, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Mix until combined and pour into the pan. Bake for 25 minutes, then cool completely.
    3. In a separate bowl, beat ½ cup softened butter with ½ cup sugar until creamy. Add 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Stir in 1 cup flour until a dough forms.
    4. Roll the dough into small rectangles on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the sheet.
    5. Cut the cooled brownies into squares. Arrange them on a serving board. Crush 4 chocolate sandwich cookies and sprinkle over the brownies. Stand the remaining cookies upright among the brownies as tombstones.
    6. Scatter candy corn, gummy worms, and marshmallow ghosts across the board to finish the display.

    Extra Tips

Bake the brownies a day ahead so they cut cleanly without crumbling. Use the same mixing bowl for both batters to cut down on dishes. If the cookies soften after assembly, refresh them in a low oven for a few minutes before adding to the board. Course: Dessert Cuisine: American Equipment: Baking pan, Baking sheet, Mixing bowl, Serving board

    Spiderweb Hummus and Pita Board

This board turns a simple hummus dip into a Halloween focal point. • 1 teaspoon olive oil

    • 1 cup cucumber slices

    Instructions

    1. Spread the hummus in a smooth round layer on a large serving board or platter.
    2. Mix the tahini with the olive oil in a small bowl until it reaches a pourable consistency.
    3. Drizzle the thinned tahini over the hummus in several concentric circles.
    4. Drag a toothpick from the center outward through the circles to form a web pattern.
    5. Place whole black olives on the web to look like spiders.
    6. Arrange the pita triangles, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber slices around the edges of the hummus.

    Extra Tips

Thin the tahini just enough to flow easily so the web lines stay clean. You can prepare the hummus and web up to two hours ahead and cover it loosely until guests arrive. Swap the cucumber for bell pepper strips if you prefer a sweeter crunch. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Serving platter, Small bowl, Toothpick

Spooky Forest Mushroom and Sausage Board

    • 8 ounces mixed mushrooms, sliced
    • 12 ounces smoked sausage links
    • 6 ounces brie cheese, sliced
    • 1 cup walnuts
    • 1/2 cup fresh rosemary sprigs
    • 1 cup blackberries
    • 8 ounces assorted crackers
    • 1/2 cup pitted black olives

    Instructions

    1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release liquid and start to brown, about 6 minutes. Stir in a few rosemary sprigs during the last minute.
    2. Remove the mushrooms to a plate. In the same skillet, cook the sausage links until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes. Let them rest for 2 minutes, then slice into rounds.
    3. Place the cooked mushrooms and sausage slices on a large board, grouping them in separate sections.
    4. Add the brie slices, walnuts, blackberries, crackers, and black olives in open spaces around the board.
    5. Tuck the remaining rosemary sprigs between items to fill gaps and complete the look.

    Extra Tips

Cook the mushrooms and sausage up to two hours ahead and keep them covered at room temperature. Swap walnuts for pecans if that is what you have on hand. Skip the blackberries if you prefer a less sweet board and use extra olives instead. Course: Appetizer Cuisine: American Equipment: Large Skillet, Serving Board
